Avoiding the cold (Part 2)

We also went to the Phoenix botanical gardens where there are all kinds of funky looking cacti. Instead, we spent the whole time looking at the neat glass sculptures that were temporarily on display.

Avoiding the cold (Part 1)

While the rest of our fellow Minnesotans were dealing with almost -30 degree weather, we conveniently spent a week in Arizona instead. The dude had 100% attention from Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, and even Great Grandma. For a week straight. He ate it up.

We went to a train park to ride a real train, have a picnic, and the dude even got to ride a scalding hot metal horse.

Of course, a week of that much attention and activities can make anyone tired and crabby.

Happy Holidays!

The dude had a fantastic time over the holidays. After meeting him, Santa thought the dude had been such a good boy over the year, that he brought him his very own kitchen set. Now maybe he can help dad out when mommy is at her final graduate school night class next semester.

Grandpa also gave him a real guitar to help the dude develop his appreciation for fine music. Needless to say, mom and dad have been attempting to transforming his image from the apron wearing musical chef, to rock star.

A day at the farm...

A not so recent day at the farm was a blast for the dude and his cousins. We got to see many different animals, feed some of the bigger ones, and hold some of the smaller ones. For mom and dad, the day was made infinitely better by another mom there that was generously sharing her bottle of hand sanitizer.

Update

The dude had better enjoy the peaceful times...

because his world is about to get rocked!

Visions of the Future?

Recently the little dude told his mom and dad that he wanted to take his swimming to the next level. We kindly obliged.

Happy Halloween!

A few weeks ago the dude's dad thought it would be a good idea to grow a mustache for the finishing touch on a Phelps/Spitz Dude/Dad combo Halloween costume. The dude did end up winning a costume contest at an early Halloween festival in St. Paul, and dad realized that he just looks like creepy mustache guy.

Happy Fall!

Playing in the leaves is a favorite pastime during a Minnesota autumn. Of course, the impending winter and finishing your dessert too early can turn anyone into a bear.

Gross Motor Skills

From Day 1, the dude has never let us worry about about his Gross Motor skills, but after the past couple of weeks, I am going say those skills aren't gross, they are SICK. When I turned the corner and caught him jumping off the back of the couch, I had to put an end to it. So, here you go everyone, look at him fly!

Wine Country (again)

Well, they did it again. They left the dude at home to go off and swill in the wine country. This time in France. At least the grandparents looking after him allowed him to swill some vino too. After his workout of course. The dude's parents got to visit the Burgundy wine country, the city of love, family in the Alps, and friends for a topless show in the city. Whew. After all that, and a visit to the home of the original cake eater, they were both very tired and glad to be home!

A little "mommy and daddy" time

Mommy and Daddy left town for the weekend and left the dude all alone. He entertained himself by going and taking naps in the nearby pool. Everything was going great, but one little girl wouldn't stop licking his hair.

Just kidding. For the time being, both sets of the dude's grandparents are in town so there is an endless supply of (free) babysitters available. Mommy and Daddy are not stupid, so they are making the most of it by competing in a few races like the Lifetime Fitness Triathlon and the Napa-to-Sonoma Half Marathon. While in the wine country they were able to take in the sights of sunny California with many of their friends from all over the country.

Happy 4th of July

The 4th of July went off without a hitch. Family was in town, the fireworks were great, what more could you ask for? As always though, the week did not end without some injuries. As you can see below, the dude slipped and fell face first into the corner of a bed.

Fishing at the Cabin

The first weekend at the cabin was a great one for fishing (especially if you enjoy catching fish just slightly bigger than the bait).
